4th Grade GATE Cluster Ms. Specks

Welcome to Room B-5

My name is Ms. Specks and I will be your child's fourth grade teacher this year in Room B-5. I am so excited to be working with you and your child this year! I believe that all children can learn with hard work, perseverance, a positive attitude, and support from both teachers and parents.

Here at Angier we participate in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program. This program is an academic, organizational and behavioral skills program that helps children to succeed academically.

Behavior

Angier has a school-wide behavior plan (The Angier Way) to ensure that all students are successful citizens. It involves honoring self, others, school environment, achievement and peace. Our behavior plan in the classroom goes along with the Angier Way. Students who follow the Angier Way will be reward individually,as a group or as a class.

Homework

Your child will have homework Monday- Thursday. This homework may consist of math, reading comprehension, cursive, word study, or writing. They will record their homework assignments in their agenda. Home Reading is also part of your child's homework. Your child needs to read Monday-Thursday for at least 30 minutes. They will record their book titles on their Home Reading Log. This log needs to be initialed by a parent/guardian.

Communication

Communication between teacher and parent is very important. I believe it helps to ensure the success of the child. The students will bring home a Daily Behavior Slip. This slip will let you know how your child is doing in behavior and if they completed their homework. It must be initialed daily. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I can best be reached by email at [email protected]. I can also be reached at the school at 619-605-3100.
